Distributed to midweek from Apple developer
betas of OS X 10.11.3 and iOS 9.2.1 can also be downloaded from the members of
the Beta Test program immediately. With the updates Apple continues the
finishing touches on the new, available since autumn operating systems OS X El
Capitan and iOS 9.
Apple iOS 9.2.1 and OS X 10.11.3
“The incredibly rapid adoption rate of new
software by Apple customers means you’ll want to integrate the latest
cutting-edge Apple technologies into your apps quickly, so they will seamlessly
integrate with the latest advances in OS X, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS. You’ll
always be ready for what’s coming next as you create your most innovative apps
ever.”
As always, OS betas should in principle not
be installed on production systems as fatal errors, incompatibilities with
software designed or stability problems workflow severely limits or makes the
implement useless at worst. The use of OS X betas should exclusively on
external drives or on Macs, which are not required for the work done.
OS X 10.11.3 provides improvements and bug
fixes for several areas of the operating system, including AirDrop, handoff and
WLAN. The update also fixes vulnerabilities and improves the stability and
compatibility with hardware and software from other manufacturers. Among the
changes in iOS 9.2.1, the manufacturer has not yet ruled, however, it is
assumed that the update mainly corrects errors and vulnerabilities.
Completion of iOS 9.2.1 and OS X 10.11.3 is
expected in January or February. Until then probably some more beta versions
for developers and testers appear. The download of the preliminary versions
requires a membership in the Developer Program or the Beta Test program.
In the past week Apple has the operating
system updates OS X 10.11.2 and iOS 9.2 available for download. Both await with
numerous improvements and bug fixes and include many vulnerabilities.
